Specifically formulated to enhance your focus and mental clarity
with a blended formula of Ginseng (american), Eleuthero Root,
Astragalus, Ginkgo, Rosemary, Gotu Kola and Lemon Balm.
Ginkgo: The leaves stimulate the blood circulation and
have a tonic effect on the brain, reducing lethargy, improving
memory and giving an improved sense of well-being. They have
also been shown to be effective in improving peripheral arterial
circulation and in treating hearing disorders such as tinnitus
where these result from poor circulation or damage by free
radicals. Ginseng: This herb is considered an adaptogen,
a substance that strengthens the body, helping it return to
normal when it has been subjected to prolonged stress. An early
study suggests that American ginseng, in combination with ginkgo
(Ginkgo biloba), may prove to be of value in helping to
treat ADHD. An early study suggests that American ginseng, in
combination with ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), may prove to
be of value in helping to treat ADHD.
Gotu Kola: The widespread belief that Gotu Kola helps
improve memory led to several studies on its effect on the
central nervous and circulatory systems. The preliminary results
suggest that it may help with memory and cognitive disabilities
as well as helping the body overcome stress and fatigue. However
it should be noted that those with mild to moderate depression
might want to use caution. Some testing done in India indicates
it may act as a very mild depressant. Eleuthero Root:
Eleuthero is an "adaptogen," an agent that helps the body
address to stress. Scientists believe it helps prevent "adrenal
burnout" caused by ongoing physical or mental challenges.
Eleuthero boosts concentration and focus without the letdown
than comes from drinking coffee or other sources of caffeine.
Eleuthero also boosts immunity. Astragalus: Astragalus
is an adaptogen, a type of nontoxic natural substance that helps
the body maintain its normal balance of health and wholeness and
increases the body's endurance and resistance to a wide array of
physical, chemical, and biological stressors. Astragalus
enhances body energy. It promotes metabolism of serum and liver
proteins, stimulates growth of antibodies, increases white blood
cells, and thus increases resistance to viruses. Taken as a
tonic, astragalus is believed to build stamina and vitality.
Rosemary: scientific research suggests that rosemary may
be useful for: Alzheimer's disease- phytochemicals in rosemary
may prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine, a chemical that
allows neurons within the brain to communicate with each other.
Lemon Balm: Case studies on human beings have shown
that lemon balm improves memory and increases span of attention
in patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. This could be
due to presence of antioxidants that are believed to protect the
cells of our body from the harmful oxidation reactions that
release free radicals. Lemon balm is also known to control
secretion of the thyroid gland. It has been consequently used to
treat Graves' disease which is caused due to excessive secretion
of thyroid hormone released by an overactive thyroid gland.

I prepared Super Woman for a number of my clients who are
experiencing the woes of menopause to help ease the hot flashes,
night sweats, and such. A simple blend of Black Cohosh, Red Clover,
and Cayenne Pepper.
Black Cohosh: Black cohosh is a popular remedy for hot
flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness of menopause. The herb
does not stimulate the production of estrogen, but it may
compensate for low or highly variable levels of estrogen during
menstruation or in the menopause. In one well-designed study, 62
women going through menopause received black cohosh, estrogen,
or a placebo for 90 days. Women who took black cohosh had the
same reduction in hot flashes as women taking estrogen. Black
cohosh did not stimulate growth of cells in the uterus,
suggesting that, unlike estrogen, the herb does not increase the
risk of uterine cancer. Black cohosh also increased the
thickness of the vaginal wall. The study also suggested that
black cohosh could help prevent osteoporosis.
Red Clover: Red clover may help reduce the effects of PMS
and menopause and reduce the pain associated with menstrual
periods. The estrogen-like action limits grown in benign
prostate hyperplasia in men, and reduces the severity and
frequency of hot flashes during menopause in women.
Cayenne
Pepper: Cayenne has proven to be extremely effective in
increasing blood circulation and enhancing the effectiveness of
other herbs and supplements. I've added it to this blend for
those two reasons.

This blend was made with my clients and myself included face the
pain of arthritis and other joint pain. This is a special blend of
Devil's Claw, Yucca, Ginger, Rosemary, and Spikenard.
Devil's Claw: Devil's claw has been traditionally used
to offer slow but sure relief of joint pain caused by both
osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and it has also been
shown to relieve muscle pain and enhance mobility for people
with either arthritis or muscle injuries. Scientists don't know
exactly how devil's claw works at this time, other than that it
is not a COX-2 inhibitor like Celebrex or Vioxx, and therefore
is not potentially injurious to the heart. Tests done in both
Germany and France have shown the herb to have anti-inflammatory
properties, but its effectiveness in herbal practice is disputed
despite a lengthy history of use. It does have a German E
commission monograph. Yucca: Yucca has many uses in the
traditional herbal of many Native American tribes. It has been
used to treat both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, a use for
which research is providing validation. Even more recently,
research suggests that yucca leaf extract may be useful in
preventing blood clots. Ginger: Ginger relieves the
pain of rheumatoid arthritis by stopping the immune system's
production of inflammatory leukotrienes.
Rosemary: The roots have been used medicinally as a
poultice to treat broken bones and deep bruising. It has also
been used to treat rheumatism, syphilis, coughs and cold
symptoms, and shortness of breath.
Spikenard: The roots have been used medicinally as a
poultice to treat broken bones and deep bruising. It has also
been used to treat rheumatism, syphilis, coughs and cold
symptoms, and shortness of breath.
Precautions: Don't use devil's claw if you take Coumadin (warfarin)
or Plavix. back to top
Inspired by Kim's battle with asthma, I decided to make a blend
for her but with all the others who also suffer from the inability
to breathe deeply - especially here in the south where the air is
thick! This blend has Coltsfoot, Mullein, Licorice, and Elecampane.
Coltsfoot: Coltsfoot is one of the most widely used
herbs for the treatment of coughs and other lung complaints, and
is the basis for many of the herbal cough preparations sold in
Europe. The chemical constituents have expectorant, anti-tussive,
anti-spasmodic, demulcent, anti-catarrhal and diuretic
properties, making coltsfoot extremely helpful in the case of
racking coughs such as those that accompany chest colds, asthma
and emphysema. Mullein: Through its long history of
traditional use or scientific study, mullein is found to harbor
many benefits that aid in respiratory function. Some of the
known benefits are: clears congestion, soothes mucus membranes
of respiratory tract, eases coughs and sore throats, relieves
asthma, relieves bronchitis and dry or unproductive coughs.
Licorice: In the respiratory system it has a similarly
soothing and healing action, reducing irritation and
inflammation and has an expectorant effect, useful in irritating
coughs, asthma and chest infections. It has an aspirin-like
action and is helpful in relieving fevers and soothing pain such
as headaches. Its anti-allergenic effect is very useful for hay
fever, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis and bronchial asthma.
Possibly by its action on the adrenal glands, licorice has the
ability to improve resistance to stress. It should be thought of
during times of both physical and emotional stress, after
surgery or during convalescence, or when feeling tired and run
down.
If you use steroids or an asthma inhaler, licorice will increase both the
effectiveness of the drug and the severity of its side effects.
Elecampane: Traditional Chinese and Indian Ayurvedic
medicine recommends elecampane for treatment of bronchitis and
asthma.Elecampane contains inulin, a phytochemical that coats
and soothes the lining of the bronchial passages and acts as an
expectorant in the body.

With not only flu season upon us but also the threat of the H1N1
flu all around us, it is more important than ever for all of us to
boost our immune systems. Preventative medicine is always the key to
good health. Be smart this season with this unique blend of
Astragalus, Ginseng, Licorice, Cayenne Pepper, Eleuthero and Ginger.
Astragalus: Astragalus strengthens immunity to
disease. It demonstrates its strongest actions in cases of
chronic (long-term) conditions through a tonic action.
Astragalus has been traditionally used for strengthening the
immune system and helping prevent bacterial and viral infections
. Astragalus stimulates production and activation of the white
blood cells, which fight infection. It helps increase and
protect the number of white blood cells in the body needed for a
healthy immune response. Astragalus has certain inhibiting
effects on molecular pathological changes caused by viruses,
increases growth of plasma cells, stimulates synthesis of
antibodies, and builds up body defense. By boosting the immune
system, Astragalus may help reduce the risk of a person becoming
ill with a bacterial or viral infection. Astragalus also
stimulates the adrenal glands, whose functions are suppressed in
cancer.
Ginseng: American ginseng is believed to enhance the
immune system, which could, in theory, help the body fight off
infection and disease. In several clinical studies, American
ginseng improved the function of cells playing a role in
immunity. Licorice: Licorice also appears to enhance
immunity by boosting levels of interferon, a key immune system
chemical that fights off attacking viruses. It also contains
powerful antioxidants as well as certain phytoestrogens that can
perform some of the functions of the body's natural estrogens;
very helpful during the menopause. Glycyrrhizinic acid also
seems to stop the growth of many bacteria and of viruses such as
influenza A.
Cayenne Pepper: Capsicum (cayenne pepper) is said to
be unequal for its ability to boost circulation and increase heart
action. Capsicum exerts a variety of desirable actions on the entire
cardiovascular system. It has the extraordinary ability to enhance
cardiovascular performance while actually lowering blood pressure.
Capsicum has an energizing effect on the entire system. It has
traditionally been used for overcoming fatigue and restoring stamina
and vigor. It is a natural stimulant without the threatening side
effects (palpitations, hyper-activity or rise in blood pressure) of
most other stimulating agents. Because Capsicum boots peripheral
circulation and stimulates organ secretion, it expedites the
therapeutic delivery and action of nutrients in the body. It will
ensure the rapid and even distribution of the active principles of
available nutrients to critical function centers, including those
involved in cellular respiration, metabolic data transmission and
neural-hormonal action. The remarkable ability of Capsicum to
stimulate organ secretion and even heart action makes it one of the
strongest natural stimulants known. Clearly, Capsicum should be
considered nothing less than a wonder herb that has scientifically
proven its worth!
Eleuthero: Eleuthero also boosts immunity. Healthy
people taking 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of tincture three times daily
have been shown to have increased numbers of the immune cells
(CD4+ cells) that have decrease during HIV-infection and AIDS.
Ginger: Ginger's effects against infection have also
been confirmed by laboratory science. One ginger compounds kills
cold viruses at a concentration of less than one part per
million, a concentration to that found in raw ginger.

This formula is for all of us who need an energy boost! I would
say based on what I see in my office, that is just about everyone!
This blend combines Ginseng, Gotu Kola, Bee Pollen, Licorice and
Cayenne Pepper to help bring power to your day!
Ginseng: American Ginseng is a powerful adaptogenic
herb. It thus provides energy, adaptability and heightened
alertness. It is especially appreciated for its endurance
increasing capacity. Gotu Kola: It is regarded as one
of the most spiritual and rejuvenating herbs in Ayurveda and is
used to improve meditation. It is said to develop the crown
chakra, the energy center at the top of the head, and to balance
the right and left hemispheres of the brain, which the leaf is
said to resemble. It has been widely used for a number of
conditions, particularly in traditional Eastern health care. In
Ayurveda, it is one of the chief herbs for revitalizing the
nerves and brain cells. It is said to fortify the immune system,
both cleansing and feeding it, and to strengthen the adrenals.
It is commonly used to rebuild energy reserves improve memory
and treat fatigue, both mental and physical. A balancing tonic
that both increases energy and relaxes the body. Bee Pollen:
Bee pollen is known as Mother Natures' natural energy booster.
Many athletes use Bee pollen to increase their energy levels,
and enhance their endurance and resistance before workouts or
competitions. An excellent source of protein, minerals, amino
acids, and enzymes, bee pollen is also a rich storehouse of B
vitamins. Bee pollen is made of approximately 50 percent
carbohydrates and 30 percent protein, making it a great source
for energy.
Licorice: By enhancing cortisol activity, glycyrrhizin
helps to increase energy, ease stress and reduce the symptoms of
ailments sensitive to cortisol levels, such as chronic fatigue
syndrome and fibromylagia.

High Cholesterol seems to be nearly epidemic in our country.
Hopefully this blend will help to bring balance to those who are
challenged by this. This blend simply has Chicory Root and Ginger -
two powerful herbs to help fight cholesterol.
Chicory Root: Chicory is nutritionally important for
what it does rather than what it contains. It contains a special
class of carbohydrates known as fructans, a group containing
inulin (not to be confused with insulin) and oligofructoses.
These carbohydrates feed the symbiotic bacteria living in the
intestine rather than the human body itself. They allow the
healthy bacteria in the colon to produce short chain fatty acids
that help prevent colon cancer, but they do not serve as a food
source of pathogenic bacteria. The bacterial fermentation of
fructans in the intestine changes its chemistry so that the
human body absorbs calcium and magnesium much more readily from
other foods, so much so that consuming endive and similar
vegetables demonstrably builds stronger bones. These complex
sugars also lower cholesterol and triglycerides. Ginger:
Ginger inhibits cholesterol production in the liver, which makes
up to 85% of the cholesterol in circulation in the blood stream.
In a clinical trial in India, the consumption of 5 grams (5
teaspoons) of dried ginger per day for seven days reversed blood
lipid elevation caused by daily consumption of 100 grams (3-12/
ounces) of butter.
