Foundational Healer
16 contact hours *
Instructor: Dakota M. Walker

A powerful healer has a stable foundation
in which they work from. It allows them to work from a space of
integrity, empathy, compassion, and from a state of non-ego. This
workshop allows a therapist to find their own true foundation and the
path to discovering the true healer within. This class is not limited to
bodyworkers - anyone seeking self discovery and growth will enjoy this
class. Learning Objective: In this interactive workshop participants
will uncover what past beliefs and perceptions may be blocking their
healing space. Through various group and individual exercises,
participants will discover with awareness what strengths they bring to
the world of healing and how to utilize those assets to the benefit of
their clients. We will discuss vision, and how our vision serves the
planet and how we may incorporate our talents to making a difference in
the world around us. This workshop is emotionally charged and
participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the work they do as
well a deeper understanding of themselves and their intrinsic value.
Students will also learn breathing and mediation techniques, mindfulness
exercises and ways to make their work more compassionate.
Required Material:
Notebook, statement of your vision, comfortable clothing. |

Intentional Healer
16 contact hours *
Instructor: Dakota M. Walker
|
Do you remember why you became a Massage
Therapist? Was it to heal the world, one body at a time? For most it was
an intention of service and compassion that led us to this field. Many
times therapists lose sight of those reasons when they are faced with
having to be a business person in addition to being a massage therapist.
Some therapists aren't sure what their intentions are with the work they
do, or how powerful they truly are both in a positive and negative way.
This workshop will bring the therapist back home to what it means to be
an intentional healer.
Learning Objective: Students will learn the power of touch and
intention and how this work can have a profound effect on the
clients they see. Students will explore the realm of healing and the
purpose for the work. Through various exercises students will learn how
powerful words, thoughts, and actions can be. Students will experience
the power of giving through a panel discussion of nursing home and
hospice volunteers. Students will discover what their truest
intentions are with this work, and how powerful the work will be when
their intent is honest and pure.
Required Material:
Notebook, comfortable clothing. |

Client Centered Healer
16 contact hours *
Instructor: Dakota M. Walker

The reason we do this is for the person
laying on our table, who has chosen to trust us with their body, their
spirit, their time, and to be a part of their path. It is vitally
important to remember we are merely a conduit, and one part of their
process. It is also important to serve them with integrity, making them
our sole focus for that time they are with us. Our work is not about us,
it is about our client. It is about our ability to respond to our
clients needs in a healthy, professional, and consistent manner. This
workshop teaches you what it means to be client centered and how to work
from an impeccable spirited place.
Learning Objective: This class will teach students how to
center their sessions around their client. They will learn the
importance of existentialism, how to network with other allied health
providers, and the value of providing outstanding customer care.
Students will also learn the dynamics of the client/therapist
relationship, the importance of healthy boundaries, and professionalism.
Students will practice communication skills including reflective
listening skills, reading non-verbal communication, and harnessing our
own intuitive powers.

Instructor: Dakota M. Walker

Massage Therapists face
ethical situations continually - whether they are the obvious incidents
such as sexual misconduct or the more subtle such as talking about a
client to a trusted friend or colleague which breaches confidentiality.
The field of Massage Therapy has changed considerably, bringing our
level of professionalism to meet the same type of standards as other
healthcare modalities. As therapists it is not only a requirement for
licensure, but a responsibility to become knowledgeable and work from a
space of integrity. This class will teach you in a way that is fun yet
informative and thought provoking.
Learning Objective: To teach Massage
Therapists the importance in upholding a code of ethics that is lawful
and morally correct. Students will learn roles and boundaries of the
client/therapist relationship, professionalism, SC Laws and regulations,
ethical business practices, sexual misconduct, and the importance of
adhering to such code of ethics. Students will also learn communication
skills that include listening skills, communicating boundaries to our
clients, and non-verbal communication from our clients.
Required Material:
Notebook. Must be a licensed massage therapist.

Marketing Massage
4 contact

Instructor: Dakota M. Walker
|
You may give the best
massage in the world but unless you know how to get someone on your
table, your hands alone won't pay the bills!! Over the years, I have
seen some great therapists fail in this field simply because they didn't
know how to get or retain clients. As an independent massage therapist
we must be able to wear all the hats - bookkeeper, marketing manager,
customer service, janitor, secretary, AND be a massage therapist.
Learning Objective: In this course, students will
learn creative and innovative ways of marketing to potential clients and
ways to insure client retention. Students will learn how to market on a
budget, and how to network with other allied health professionals,
business' and even clients themselves. Students will learn how to use
the resources they already have to build a practice that is successful
and rewarding.
Required Material:
Notebook, business card and any marketing material you currently use. |
